Apple tv locks up while updating
There may come a time when you want to sell your Apple TV or give it to someone else.
Or maybe a failed system update ended up bricking the device.
In any event, it’s good to know how to factory reset your Apple TV. The first method is by just going into the settings on the Apple TV and resetting it, which assumes you’re able to boot the device up and click through the menus. From there, you can select either “Reset” or “Reset and Update”.
The other method can be used when something goes awry, like the power going out during an update and bricking your Apple TV. Both will factory reset your Apple TV, but the latter option will also install the latest software update if one is available (and if you have an internet connection).
If your data connect A lot of times folks don't realize they accidentally tapped on the app while it was downloading. You can easily tell if you've accidentally paused an install if it has a pause icon over it with the word paused underneath it.
However, even if the install doesn't seem to be paused, tapping on it can sometimes trigger a frozen install to pick up where it left off again.
If it times out, fails to verify, won't download, won't complete, or won't reboot, you'll need to troubleshoot. When you tap to install i OS 11, if nothing happens, you can try force-qutting Settings and beginning again.
